News and Results

EFIAP arrived safely a couple of weeks ago. So I'm back in the game, heading for EFIAP/bronze this time. In order to achieve that I need 75 acceptances but this time using 25 all new work. I also need to get at least three of the images awarded in three different countries.

Irish photographic clubs did extremely well, with 1st and 3rd place, but the UK managed five clubs in the top 13. I believe this shows that the UK has one of the strongest photographic scenes in the world at the moment.

DAPA Group takes 13th place in the worlds.

I entered eight images this year an can happily report that seven of the eight have been accepted, one with an award of Highly commended. Three new pieces of work were in the list with the Common Blue Butterflies Mating taking the HC.

Just got the results for the amazingly well run Beyond Group National. I don't know how they managed it but they got the results out within a day of judging. Simply amazing, so a big thank you and well done to the members of Beyond Group.

A much better set of results just in from 3rd Salón Int. de Imagen Virtual Foto Club Quilmes - 2010 Bs.As. Argentina. I entered twelve images into three sections and managed eight acceptances with Riptide gaining a PSA Ribbon.

Disappointing results from Glasgow this time round. I entered sixteen images and only came away with two acceptances. I've heard reports that quite a number of people have had acceptances in smaller numbers this year. The competition appears to be growing stronger. Time to step up a gear I think. I will have to work out how to regain the advantage, take a good look at what is being accepted and why the judges are picking what they have.

The results arrived today. Just the two acceptances this time round, 'No Going Back' and a new image 'Third Age of Man'. To be honest I'm a little disappointed in this result. I was hoping for a few more of my images to have made the grade. Never mind, onwards and upwards.

Almost there now. The EFIAP is just one salon away from my grasp. Two more acceptances at Golden Spurs in Belgium.

I'm still not sure I've read the results correctly, even after three readings. Every image I submitted except Herringfleet Mist was accepted in the 5th INT PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION “ ECOLOGICAL TRUTH 2010 “ Serbia

Group Snooze also won a PSA Bronze Medal in this salon.

A good set of result with seven out of twelve images being selected for this National Exhibition. Which takes me to within thirteen acceptances for the BPE4* award.

I had a set of images converted to slides as a test and decided to put five of them into the Wirral Slide Exhibition just to see if the judges could see the difference. Obviously they can't. All five images were accepted, with Herringfleet Mist taking a BPE Ribbon.

The results for the Rushden Open Photographic Exhibition 2010 have arrived this morning. I gained five acceptances in total with 2 of these being awarded 'Highly Commended' by the judges.

The Bristol International Results brightened up my evening no end.
Four totally new works accepted:
Legion, Lippy, Japanese Macaque (Bad Hair Day) and Red Squirrel (2)

Seven acceptances at the Richmond and Twickenham National, brings my total upto 166.

The news I've been waiting for and the result of a lot of hard work came through today .... my AFIAP award. I'm already well on my way to the next level (EFIAP), but it is good to get the certificate and be able to start putting those letters after my name.

The British Photographic Exhibitions - Vale of Evesham results just arrive. I wasn't expecting these just yet, but it always nice to get good news.

A circuit of four exhibitions for prints no larger than A4 size.
My monkeys did well again this time gaining acceptances across most of the exhibitions. Flotsam looks as though is might be the best of the new images, being generally well accepted.

Just got back from a good day teaching a workshop at Robin Hood's Bay to discover the results are in for the Serbian 3nd INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION.

A GOLD MEDAL !!

What a day, another set of result came in, this time from Greater Lynn in the USA

My image of an Atlantic Puffin and a Redwing on Hawthorn were accepted. So thats two new works to add to the list. I need 10 more for the EFIAP award. The chase is on!
