Flotsam at Dawn
13th December 2009
I managed to get out this morning, the weeks of heavy rains and bad weather has been difficult to get anything decent. So I drove out to one of my favourite places, Spurn Point at the mouth of the River Humber. There is always something to shoot out there.
I arrived an hour before dawn, stumbled down onto the beach and found some fresh flotsam caught up on one of the groins. I put on 3 neutral density filters to equalise the exposure for the sky and foreground and set about composing a shot. I’ve been here many times so didn’t want to repeat some of my earlier shouts. I got low down and into the water to get this shot just as the dawn was breaking. Well worth a 4:30 am start.
